Updated: Nov 19

At Blue Eden Group LLC, we take immense pride in showcasing the incredible talents of local artists, each bringing their own unique style and creativity to my stores. One of the standout creators is Lauren Cross, whose beautifully decoupaged shells are truly a sight to behold. Her work is, without a doubt, the best I've encountered, and it perfectly embodies the heart of the stores along with a cool coastal vibe, where her inspiration comes from.

In addition to Lauren, we feature a fantastic team known as Curated by Michelle and John Valkusky. Their creations focus on repurposed salvage materials, capturing a beachy farmhouse aesthetic that many of our customers adore. Michelle is also the mastermind behind the delicious Energy Bites, which can be found in our shops as well as on her website, offering a delightful treat for those seeking something wholesome.

Another talented artist proudly showcased is Linda Colson, who hand paints boxed greeting cards filled with local charm. Her whimsical designs often highlight birds and bees, bringing a touch of nature's beauty into every card.

For those seeking distinctive jewelry, Alba Blu by Daniela Battistoni is essential to explore. Daniela creates exquisite pieces by molding and casting them into custom sterling silver. Her work has been displayed at the Wayne Art Center in Wayne, PA. Among her collection of original artworks, Daniela also offers a beautiful line of protection bracelets made with stones that have become popular with our customers, such as black tourmaline, obsidian, hematite, tiger's eye, and amazonite. Each providing different properties like repelling negativity, grounding energy, and enhancing courage. Other protective beads include amethyst and jade. Her Buddha bracelet (shown) is a customer favorite. Available online too!

Since we're discussing jewelry, JSkylar Designs offers a stunning collection of sea glass pieces featuring shells, genuine sea glass, and 941 sterling silver. All designs are original creations by Joanna Valentine.

What is Sea Glass?

Sea glass is a type of glass that has been naturally weathered and polished by the ocean. It originates from discarded glass items, such as bottles, jars, and other glass debris, that have been tumbled and smoothed by the relentless action of waves and sand over time.

Formation Process

The process of sea glass formation typically involves several key stages:

  • Discarding: Glass items are often thrown away or lost at sea, where they begin their journey.

  • Weathering: The glass is subjected to the elements, including saltwater, waves, and sand, which gradually chip away sharp edges and create a frosted appearance.

  • Polishing: Over time, the glass becomes smooth and rounded, resulting in the characteristic texture of sea glass.

Characteristics

Sea glass comes in various colors, shapes, and sizes, influenced by the type of glass and the duration of its exposure to the ocean. Common colors include:

  • Green

  • Brown

  • Clear

  • Blue

  • Amber

Some rarer colors, such as red, purple, and black, can also be found, often making them more valuable to collectors.

Uses and Popularity

Sea glass is highly sought after for its aesthetic appeal and is often used in jewelry, art, and home decor. Its unique beauty and the story behind its formation contribute to its popularity among crafters and collectors alike. We just received a new shipment of Joanna's work and can't wait to get it on the floor! Stop in to check it out.

We also feature Latherman Soaps, the brainchild of George and Lois Carr. Their soaps, made using a traditional cold process technique with a variety of oils and essential oils, cater to our male clientele (but girls like it too), providing a luxurious bathing experience.

Alongside my soap creations, I also hand pour candles for my line called Just BE Candle Co by Blue Eden and developed a pet wellness line that is sold exclusively at my shop called Oliver & Twist. Yep, there's something special for everyone who visits the stores.

I am passionate about supporting local talent and providing our customers with a unique shopping experience filled with creativity and heart.
